SPIRITUAL

The Swiss psychiatrist Elizabeth Kubler-Ross, the greatest exponent of modern Thanatology (from the Greek " thanatos "meaning death) insists that talk of death is nothing more to talk about the meaning of our lives, for those who say that death does not make sense is because they are living a meaningless life.
I instead I dare say that the fear of death is directly proportional to the distance from God: Tell me how much fear you have to death and I will tell you how far you are in Christ Jesus!. And if you fear death, you do well, since that is the fear!. But those who have been justified by Christ Jesus, as St. Paul would say, are a new creature, old things are passed and everything is made new (2 Cor 5:17). Today
internet find anything and everything: forums that promote xenophobia (racial hatred), blogs on how to make an atomic bomb, to promote anorexia chats with practical methods to induce vomiting, pages that teach teenagers how to live euphoria of a drug without having to rely on psychotropic substances banned ... even how to commit suicide blogs without pain. Well, I had the opportunity to enter one of the latter and he spoke of what the least painful death ... despite the macabre theme, a question arose in my mind and now I do to you: if you could choose how you were to die what would it be?
Every time I ask this question to people of church, I find that everyone prefers the fastest, such as stroke. But the fact that it is fast does not necessarily mean it's less painful. Of course nobody in their right mind would choose a stomach cancer or leukemia in which e was dying slowly over many months of suffering. Ironically us we want for ourselves a quick death, but we are so selfish that we prefer for our death "not take them so quickly."
The Roman Gaius Suetonius wrote that the Roman patricians, as the philosopher Seneca, preferred to cut the veins, in a hot tub as well as blood lost, I was entering a dream that "away from this world without any pain. " For them, suicide was not an immoral act but an honor of freemen. Today
Doctors say less painful deaths are those that take us first to get into a lethargy that becomes a deep sleep where we die without ever know, and among them is the queen of hypothermia. People who die frozen or even realize he was dying.
Well, in the spiritual life something similar occurs, many Christians are exposed to freeze spell of sin that starts first by numbing the conscience and is gradually taking the moral lethargy that eventually snatch the spiritual life. As I said the Apostle Santiago (1.15) that "the passion conceives and gives birth to sin, and sin, once grown, brings forth death."
spiritual hypothermia in the light of Revelation 3
Rev 3.1 "I know your works"
- We can not hide our actions in the eyes of God, because everything is manifested before the light of Jesus Christ (Jn 3.20).
- Everything will be denounced and exposed by the light of Jesus Christ (Eph 5.13-14a).
"And although you name alive, you're dead"
- You live appearances deceive others showing a "faithful disciple," "good servant", "preacher."
- I think "live" and you do not pray, just in the prayer group once a week is enough.
- I do not read the Bible, the sacrament of confession is becoming more distant.
- The Word of God is spiritual food. Are you hungry to read the Bible? The dead are not hungry!
Rev 3.2 "Awake" (stay alert)
- is a cry imperative. That's an order. It is not an invitation one can take or leave. It is of vital importance, neglect can cost lives.
- This is a warning, an alarm that requires us to respond
- It's a needle in the "back" to warn us to respond as Ephesians 5: 14b: "Awake, O sleeper, rise from the dead and Christ will shine "
- John tells us that" the light came into the world and men loved darkness rather than light. "
"Strengthen what is about to die"
- how is your faith?, Do you hope?, Is your charity and your prayer, your life "sacramental?
- No longer an empty stomach, and assume no small mortification. Your spiritual life became monotonous, dull, uneventful, and routine scheduled ... contracted with the words of Jesus "I have come that they may have life and have it abundantly" (Jn 10, 10b).
- Death of "spiritual hypothermia," ie, not realizing that he's dying.
"Because I've found that your works are not perfect before God"
- The things of God and for God, there must be good, but excellent. While the Israelites were giving God the first fruits of their property, crops, herds, Christians today give God the crumbs of what is left. They sought God as his Lord and Sovereign, we treat it like a beggar ...
- is necessary to die to the mundane as St. Paul calls us in Colossians 3, 5-10. Ap
3.3 "Remember how listening and receiving the Word of God"
- Remember how you were evangelized, when you gave your heart to Christ and you did your Lord and Savior, remember your first seminar of Life, your first waking the first love that made you discover that God was not garbage but I loved intensely and returns to first love (Rev 2.4).
"Keep it"
- Back in the imperative, it is an order.
- Leaves passivity and stillness. Mourning will not get the mud of your misery.
- must move from passivity to action, from tears to joy, from sadness to joy, defeat to spiritual victory.
"and change of behavior"
- Turn to God, become. Walk over to God.
- As the prodigal son, left the "pigsty" (sty), which has become your life and returning to the arms of the father.
- Changes cold kisses "prostitutes" that will steal your soul and return to the Father kisses you back the dignity of a child.
"Because if you are not alert"
- Stay awake, watching, with eyes wide open Do not rely on your own strength and on your guard. Do not fall asleep that you freeze!!
"I will come like a thief, but you know the time"
- llagares without you least expect it. And that will test where you must persevere and not despair Sir 2.12 to 14.
- We should be like the Sword of Toledo emerging between the fire and the anvil. Ap
3.4 "live with you few who have not soiled their clothes"
- There is hope, we have between us brothers who have kept faith, endured with patience and the Lord strengthened.
"The winner donning White
- To be victorious, you must first fight. Impossible to beat without evidence or attacks.
- James tells us that those who can withstand the test will receive the crown of life that God has promised those who love Him (OMS 1.12).
- The Lord cares for and protects them, Psalm 23.
- Dressed in white, or covered and cleansed by the Blood of Christ and guided by the E. Ghost.
"Do not erase his name from the book of life"
- Is it that I can delete?, Or salvation What can you lose?
- We are in the book of life not by our merit but by the grace of God (Eph 2:8-9), but if we neglect the grace of God will be like the publican who believed in its merits but in the mercy publican found in the Temple.
"I will defend in the presence of my Father and his angels"
- We already had said the Apostle John, we have an advocate with the Father, and that Advocate is Jesus Christ.
- If we deny before men, He will deny us before his Father, but if we confess, He will confess us before his Father! (Mt 10.33).
- Therefore we must bear witness and not ashamed. Oh
Prayer Merciful Father, sent from above the fire of your Spirit to keep alive in us the fire of your love. Do not let the cold winds of secularism and moral relativism, we become insensitive to your Spirit.
You never fail us insight and temperance in order to excel in the midst of the snares of the devil. Give us a warning heart and generosity to reach out to our brothers in need. To you be the glory, Amen. Amen!
May God bless you.
